Our History

Imperial Bank Uganda Limited commenced operations in January 2011. It is a subsidiary of Imperial Bank Kenya Limited; a fully fledged commercial bank founded in January 1996. The bank has had a long standing tradition of achieving strong financial performance and carrying out expansion strategies while successfully focusing on efficient client service delivery.

At Imperial Bank, we don't just sell financial products and services but we endeavor to provide choices, opportunities and solutions. With expertise derived from our highly experienced and innovative management team, we offer an extensive range of products and services that is customized to give your company value while meeting specific business needs. These products include: Corporate Relationship Banking, Cash management, Lending & Trade Finance Services, Treasury, Foreign exchange Management and Correspondent Banking Worldwide. In addition, the bank also provides various retail products like: Personal Current and Savings Accounts, Marble Junior Savings Account and debit cards. In addition, we are increasing our range of products to include, Internet and SMS banking among others.

We therefore commit a significant amount of our profits every year towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guided by the tenets of; improving the livelihood of disadvantaged children; creating sustainable community development; Building life skills through quality education; and using art to promote creativity.

We are proud winners of the FiRe Award (Excellence in Finance Reporting) on five occasions since 2002. This is an award that recognizes excellence in financial reporting, sound corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility. In the year 2008 we were also received the same award in the category for Best Bank in Kenya. 2009 we received the Best Bank in SME in the banking awards. And in 2011 we were received the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) accolade for our work toward the reduction of infant mortality through the Key in your donation campaign in support of UNICEF’s Child Alive campaign. The campaign was the first ATM fundraising campaign in East and Central Africa.

To maintain and further improve this positioning and growth, we will increase the use of online delivery channels for ease of customer access like Internet, ATMs, POS and mobile (SMS banking) amongst others. We will provide new and improved infrastructure to meet the evolving client needs and as part of our growth strategy, we are also continuing to recruit qualified professional staff, and providing appropriate training to our existing human resources to ensure we continue to meet evolving customer demands.

Imperial Bank has achieved a sustained growth in our customer deposit base which is largely attributed to the level of confidence our customers have in the bank and our corporate strategy. In Kenya, the bank currently has 17 branches in the expanding branch network across major towns and cities in the Country. Imperial Bank Uganda’s head office and first branch is situated along Hannington Road Plot 6, Kampala. The other branches are at Mukwano Place, Kyaggwe Road and Mukwano Shopping Centre Arcade, Nakivubo.
